Plain Braid Binder 5/8"
This binder is an industrial raw edge plain tape binder (also known as a single-fold binder) used to apply tape, braid, or binding along the edge of a garment. Unlike the "clean finish" binder, this binder folds the binding tape in half around the fabric but leaves the top and bottom edges unfolded (raw).
Key Features & Design
- Raw Edge Finish: The edges of the binding tape are not tucked under. This is often used for internal seams or items where a minimal, thin binding profile is desired.
- Swing-Away Capability: This binder is also available with a swing-away bracket, allowing you to move the binder out of the way for regular sewing without removing it from the machine bed.
- Adjustability: The position of the outlet can typically be adjusted forward, backward, left, or right using built-in screws to perfectly align the binding with the needle.
- Sizing: The finished size is approximately 1/2 of the input tape width (e.g., a 1" tape results in a 1/2" finished binding).
Compatibility
This binder is a universal attachment that fits most industrial and some home sewing machines with pre-drilled mounting holes in the machine bed. It is compatible with:
- Industrial Brands: Juki (DDL-8700/8500), Brother, Consew, Singer, Mitsubishi, and Yamata.
- Specialty Machines: It is also used on coverstitch machines like the Janome Coverpro series for finishing necklines and armholes
