Lap Seam Folder A32 3/16MH

A32 is an industrial lap seam folder (also known as a feller or felling folder) designed primarily for 2-needle and 3-needle chainstitch machines. It is used to join two pieces of fabric with a professional, reinforced lap seam, where the fabric edges are folded over each other and interlocked.

Key Functions and Design

  • Seam Construction: This attachment creates a lap seam (French seam style), commonly seen on the side seams of shirts, the inseams/outseams of blue jeans, and in heavy-duty applications like awnings, tents, and sails.
  • Spring-Type Mechanism: Many A32 models are "spring-type," allowing the folder to open slightly to accommodate cross-seams or varying fabric thicknesses during sewing.
  • Machine Compatibility: It is a standard attachment for industrial chainstitch machines, including the Juki MS series, Union Special 51400/51500, and Kansai Special DLR models.
Material Weight Ratings
The A32 is categorized by the thickness of the material it can handle:
  • M (Medium): For lightweight apparel like shirts.
  • MH (Medium-Heavy): For standard cotton pants and woven fabrics.
  • H (Heavy): For corduroy, light denim, and canvas.
  • XH (Extra-Heavy): For the heaviest industrial denim, tarps, and tents.
Sizing
The folder size refers to the needle gauge (the space between the needles). Common sizes include 3/16" (4.8mm) and 1/4" (6.4mm)
