DPX17 #125/20 NY2 SD1 PD Needle Titanium 10PK

The DPX17-NY2-SD1-PD (also known as 135x17-NY2-SD1-PD) is a highly specialized industrial needle from Organ Needle Co. It combines the structural reinforcements of the NY2 series, the wear-resistant PD titanium coating, and a unique SD1 hybrid point.

Key Technologies & Features
This needle is designed to provide maximum stability and longevity when sewing difficult or dense materials that typically cause standard needles to deflect or wear down quickly.
SD1 (Round-Tri-Tip) Point: This is a hybrid point style. According to Sailrite, it features a very small triangular cutting tip (cutting approximately 10% of the hole) that then transitions into a standard round displacement body. This allows the needle to pierce dense materials more easily than a round point while maintaining the tidy, non-cutting appearance of a standard stitch.
NY2 Series Design: Features a tapered blade that increases needle strength by 30% compared to conventional designs. This drastically reduces needle vibration and deflection during high-speed sewing, which is a leading cause of skipped stitches.
PD (Perfect Durability) Coating: Plated with titanium nitride, these needles are up to five times more wear-resistant than standard chrome-plated needles. This is particularly beneficial when sewing abrasive or dense materials like synthetic leather and heavy canvas.
Deeper Scarf: The NY2 design includes a specially designed deeper and longer scarf to ensure stable loop formation, allowing the machine's hook to catch the thread reliably even at high speeds.

Recommended Applications
The SD1 point makes this needle versatile for both textiles and fine leathers:
Fine Leather & Leather Clothing: Optimized for soft leathers where a full cutting point (like TRI or LR) might be too aggressive.
Difficult Synthetics: Ideal for materials coated with PVC or polyurethane, such as tarpaulins, tents, and imitation leather.
Dense Fabrics: Effective for heavy sailcloth assemblies and multi-layered thick materials.
