Right Angle Bias Binder for Coverstitch 50mm - 16mm

Right Angle Bias Binder is a specialized attachment for a coverstitch machine that folds and applies fabric strips (bias tape) to raw garment edges in a single step. Unlike "straight-in" binders that feed fabric directly forward, a right-angle binder feeds the binding strip from the side (at a 90-degree angle) into a folding funnel.

Key Features and Functionality

  • Precision Curves: Its primary advantage is handling tight curves (like necklines or armholes) and concave shapes more effectively than straight binders, which can struggle with sharp turns.
  • Automatic Folding: As the fabric strip passes through the metal funnel, it is automatically folded into either a single fold (raw edge on the bottom) or a double fold (both edges tucked in).
  • Sandwich Construction: The attachment guides the main garment fabric into the center of the folded binding just before it reaches the needles, "sandwiching" the raw edge.
  • Stretch Retention: On a coverstitch machine, this process uses a stretchable stitch, making it the industry standard for finishing knitwear like tank tops, swimwear, and athletic apparel.
Important Considerations

  • Sizing: Binders are sold by their input (cut width) and output (finished width). For example, a 32mm input typically yields an 8mm finished binding.
  • Installation: Many generic or industrial right-angle binders require replacing the machine's throat plate and feed dogs to function correctly.
  • Fabric Choice: While called "bias" binders, they are frequently used with knit strips cut cross-grain for t-shirts and activewear
