29 X 3 | #120 Needle | 332 Pack of Ten
The 29x3 (also known as the 332, DIx3, or SY3741) is the standard round-point needle system for vintage industrial "patcher" machines, such as the Singer 29 and 29K.
While the 29x4 is the leather-cutting version, the 29x3 is designed for woven fabrics, canvas, denim, and artificial leather.
Key Technical Specifications
- Needle Form: Straight needle with a round shank.
- Point Style: R (Normal Round Point). This point is designed to push fabric fibers aside to prevent tearing or damage to woven materials.
- Equivalent Systems: 332, 022, DIx1, DIx3, SY3741, SY3747.
- Design Note: Original 29x3 needles were often made without a scarf (the indentation above the eye), making them slightly stronger than modern equivalents like the 135x17, though most current versions now include a scarf for better hook clearance.
Machine Compatibility
This system is primarily used in cylinder-arm machines designed for repairs and patching in tight areas.
