Learn to Quilt - EVENINGS - West - with Lisa

This is the perfect class for anyone who wants to learn how to make a quilt. Starting with the fundamentals: quilting tools and terminology you will learn how to accurately cut and piece a variety of quilt blocks that will come together as a sampler quilt. By the end of this class you will be confident in your skills and will be able to pick up any beginner pattern or design a quilt of your own. Re-sizing blocks as well as mixing & matching quilt blocks will be covered.

Now is the perfect time to learn to quilt!  With over 30 years of quilting experience & numerous awards, you will learn from a very successful and accomplished quilter. Lisa shares her love of quilting,  wealth of knowledge and experience to help you start on your own quilting journey. 

• Sewing machine in good working order (recommend bringing your manual to class)
• 6 ½”X24” OR 8 ½”X 24” ruler (recommend 8 ½”)
• Square Ruler (between 6-8”, must have diagonal line visible) OR Tucker Trimmer 6 ½” ruler (recommended)

• 45mm or 60 mm rotary cutter with new blade
  self healing cutting mat
• 4-6 fabrics for blocks (mix of light, medium & darks), for a total of 4.5 meters
  1 Metre neutral background fabric for blocks
  1  fabric for sashing (if you want to do sashing like store sample, you’ll need 2 fabrics, ½ metre each)
  1 ¼  Metre fabric for border
• Neutral cotton thread (Guterman, Wonderfil)
• ¼”  foot
  Machine needle (recommend microtex)
  scissors
• Straight quilting pins (recommend fine size)
• Stitch ripper 

 Fabric needed for completing quilt, but not used in class (suggest waiting until quilt top is completed to purchase)

• ½ metre fabric for binding
• Backing Fabric (will discuss options in class)
• Batting
