Adult Learn to Sew Tuesday - with Joanne - South
Sewing Basics is a class designed introduce you to a fun new hobby. Releaving some of the mystery and frustration of learn new skills. Classes include getting to know your sewing machine, choosing a project, reading a pattern, choosing fabrics, skills like seams and seam finishes and basic start to clothing construction.
Basic Sewing Supply List
- General / Universal sewing machine needles (size 12 / 14) - bring extras
- Thread and bobbins
- 3 Scissors – Fabric, thread and paper
- Seam ripper
- Seam gage
- Measuring tape
- Pins and pin cushion
- Fabric marker (chalk or pen)
- Tracing wheel and wax free tracing paper
- Tracing paper (for tracing patterns)
- Pen/pencil, paper, small binder for handouts
- 20 fabric squares 12” x 12” (quilting cotton, light weight cotton or poly/cotton **NO knit fabrics**) for in-class samples
- Singer: The Complete Photo Guide to Sewing by Nancy Langdon - Available on Amazon ** highly recommended while not strictly required, we will be referencing continually throughout the classes
- Walk the Plank PJ Bottoms by Patterns for Pirates (this is a free downloadable pattern) ** print wisely full pattern is 78 pages patternsforpirates.com
- Day 1 only -- 2 cups uncooked rice
**Please come early enough to set up your sewing machine before class
**If you wish to bring a drink please use non spill cup
