Memory Quilt with Mila - West



This course is designed to teach people how to make a memory quilt using knit(stretchy) clothing. Our precious babies are growing so fast and we can capture these moments to save the memories in the cute baby quilts. You will learn all the basic techniques which are needed to successfully make a memory quilt, how to handle the stretchy fabric and enjoy the colourful creation. In a relaxed atmosphere, we will be making approximately 30” x 40” lap size quilt. This course will walk you through all the steps.  A lot of tips included. Some homework might be required.

Supply List for Students:  

Tools:

  1.     Machine in good working order, with manual
  2.     Cutting mat, rotary cutter, 6”x24” ruler, 12”x12” ( or similar) square ruler
  3.     Snippers, scissors
  4.     ¼” foot for piecing, and a stich-in-a-ditch foot/walking foot
  5.     neutral colour thread for piecing, matching colour thread for quilting
  6.     pins, safety pins, 505 spray, fabric marking pen/pencil
  7.     pen and paper for notes

 Fabric:

  1. various baby clothings, e.g. for this quilt size you would need approximately 20 onesies
  2. 1m coordinated flannelette or cotton for border and binding
  3. 1.5m flannelette for backing
  4. 1m batting, 90” wide
