Emilia Quilt - Opal - West 1

Want to learn how to quilt? If you can sew a straight line then this class is for you! Build rotary cutting skills and sew different elements together to make a pretty quilt. You'll learn a number of tips, techniques and tried-and-true products that will give you more confidence with your quilting.

Supply List:

  • Pattern: Emilia by Robin Pickens Quilt Patterns
  • Sewing machine (in good working order with usual accessories, you must know how to use your machine)
  • Machine needles
  • 1/4" foot
  • Thread
  • Scissors
  • Cutting mat: 18" x 12" is sufficient but bring what you have
  • Rulers:
    • Straight ruler for cutting strips (Opal likes to use a 6" x 12" ruler but a longer one also works)
  • Rotary cutter and 1 spare blade
  • Fabric: As specified in pattern (for new quilters Opal recommends you make the smaller 4 quilt block in order to keep the project more manageable.)
  • Regular straight pins
  • Optional: wool pressing mat and an iron. There will be several ironing boards and an iron in the room but bringing your own may be preferred, as paper piecing relies on pressing after each seam is sewn.
