In this introductory class for youths, students will learn to use a sewing machine and serger. They will use a pattern and learn to identify pattern symbols. Project would include: a pencil case, tote bag, pajama boxers or pants, and if time permits, a chef's apron. A sewing machine and serger are not required as they will be provided for this class.

Fabric requirements:
Tote Bag:
- 0.4m heavy weight woven cotton/polyester fabric (bottom)
- 0.4m woven cotton/polyester fabric (top of tote)
- 0.5m woven cotton/polyester fabric (lining)
- Gutterman all purpose thread to match fabric color
Boxer:
- 0.8m of 115cm or 150 cm wide cotton (or blend) lightweight woven fabric
- 1 package of 2.5 cm wide elastic
- Gutterman all purpose thread to match fabric color
PJ Pants:
- 2m of 115cm OR 1.2m of 150cm wide woven lightweight cotton or cotton blend fabric
- Gutterman all purpose thread to match fabric color
- 1 package of 2.5cm wide elastic
Apron (if time permits):
- 1m woven fabric
- Gutterman all purpose thread to match fabric color
ALL fabric should be pre-shrunk (Fabric should be washed and dried)
