No rules, few measurements - a chance to stretch your creativity! Learn to do some improv piecing based on basic quilt blocks, then challenge yourself to create a flowing and artistic design with them. Darlene will help you engineer these blocks together and come up with an improv/abstract quilt that is totally unique and totally your own!
A wide selection of cotton fabrics. You need approx. a meter of your background fabric, or .5 or 2 (for example if you choose black and white as both background fabrics). You then need a variety of fabrics (.2m of each) in one or two colour ranges. Contrast to your background is great. See class sample for examples!
Sewing machine in good working order (you must know how to use your machine)
Rotary cutter with a sharp blade
Quilting ruler - 6" x 24" or whatever you have available
Basic neutral thread for piecing
Quilting straight pins plus regular quilting supplies such as a seam ripper
Class 2: portable design walls would be great but if you don't have one, a large piece of quilt batting to lay your pieces on and work on design.
Class 3: final design considerations. Steam-A-Seam or other fusible web needed to add details.
Basic quilting and piecing skills are needed for this class.
