Whether you're an absolute beginner or an experienced sewist, Central Sewing offers a wide range of sewing classes to help you take your skills to the next level. Classes are held weekly at our convenient Edmonton locations. With small class sizes, you'll receive personalized attention every step of the way.

Learn how to make this stylish “Tuscany Tote” bag from Pink Sand Designs. This bag uses just 4 feature fabrics and has 16 pockets inside. It has an easy to sew NO SAG bottom. The finished size will be 16 ½” wide x 12” tall x 4” deep. You’ll have lots of fun sewing up this tote.

Join Custom Bra-Maker, Michelle Noble and take your bra-making to a new level. We’ll be making another lovely European bra pattern with a unique and uplifting shell pattern. A kit will be supplied for the class. Instructions for what size of the PDF pattern you will buy will be given to you after you are custom fit for your pattern. Additional kits will be available to purchase in the class.

Join Custom Bra-Maker, Michelle Noble to learn how sew a bra. We’ll be making a lovely European bra pattern, and learning how to use lace. You will make a lovely bra that is very similar in design to some very high-end Ready-to-wear bras. Once you take the class, you’ll be able to make your own lace-cupped bras in any color you want. No more plain bras, or only beige or white. You an now make any color you want. A kit will be supplied for the class. Instructions for what size of the PDF pattern you will buy will be given to you after you are custom fit for your pattern. Additional kits will be available to purchase in the class.

We have donated our classroom to a fantastic group of volunteers. This group visits us the first and third Thursday of each month. If you own Bernina V9 Designer+ Software, join Bev for these virtual lessons. Bev has been using Bernina software since it's inception and will show you many tips and tricks along the way. Each lesson will be three parts , beginner information on the topic, then advanced information, and then Bev's extras on the topic.

In this hands-on workshop you will learn to identify the fitting problems and how to solve them. Ron will show how to correct fitting problems regarding sloping and square shoulders, large bust, high and low bust, removal of a bust dart, broad and round upper back, sway back or down-sloping back waistline, large upper arm, tight armholes, flat seat and many more.

This workshop will be started by Ron's detail in his jeans and jean jackets in various fabrics from traditional denim, twills and linen to faux leather and gabardine. You will see great techniques from seams, zippers, waistbands and more.

If you have not sewed fitted pants before this is the workshop to start out with!!! The Jalie ?Eleonore? is a great stretch pull-on jean (long or cropped) with an extra wide waistband. It has the details of a jean yoke and back patch pockets, with the details of a faux front pocket and fly front which is a sharp detail. Students will try on the jeans that have been made up in a stretch woven denim with 20% stretch in the cross grain. Ron has sewn the 15 different sizes (4-22) in the ?Eleonore? for you to try, so all necessary pattern fitting adjustments are made to the pattern before you cut the fabric. Ron then will identify your fitting problems and give you the necessary alterations (flat seat, protruding seat, low seat, knock/bowed legs, gaping waistband, length, etc.) for your jeans before cutting into your pattern.

What types of sewing classes are offered?
Central Sewing offers a variety of sewing classes for different skill levels, including beginner sewing classes that teach adults the basics of sewing and following patterns. We also have specialized classes like the Beginner Bra Class to learn how to make custom-fitted bras. Quilting classes are available for those interested in learning quilting techniques.


Where are the sewing classes held?
The sewing classes are held at our Central Sewing retail locations in Edmonton. "West" is our 18514 - 104 Avenue location and "South" is our 8649 - 63 Ave location.

How much do the sewing classes cost?
The cost varies based on the class. They range from $75 to $400 per a class. For example our beginner adult sewing class costs $200 for the weekly 2.5 hour sessions, while the specialized Beginner Bra Class costs $365.

Do I need to bring my own sewing machine?
For most classes, yes you need to bring your own sewing machine that is in good working order. However, some classes it is not required. Please read the class "supply list" to confirm or contact us for more information.
